Andy & Marne | Abilene Wedding Photographers

Posted on May 23, 2011

Andy said his favorite thing about Marne was her innocent perspective on life. She has a sweet and pure laugh and tender eyes that gaze only at Andy. They were easy to be around because they are so in love with each other. They are the kind of people that, just by watching them, you are encouraged to love and laugh more. Needless to say, we were so blessed by photographing these two. Marne & Andy, you were such a delight to get to know. We hope you absolutely love your pictures!

Cancun Destination Wedding | Day After Session

Posted on May 18, 2011

Since Kris & Ashley’s wedding wasn’t booked until after we set our flight schedule for Arlene & Derrell’s wedding, the only way to shoot a Day After session for them was to do a sunrise session the morning we were leaving to head back to Texas. When we proposed the idea for a super early morning shoot, they were all for it! Perfect! We planned to meet them at 6:45 AM and photograph them as the sun was coming up. Fortunately for us, Kris & Ashley are typically early morning risers, so a sunrise session seemed perfect for their style. What wasn’t so fortunate is that, in order for Ashley to get her hair and make-up done before the session, she had to get up somewhere around 3:30 AM! What a trooper!

You know what else is awesome? Sunrise sessions. I (Ashley) personally have not been awake for near as many sunrises as sunsets, but I must say – the clouds at sunrise are PHENOMENAL! You guys just wait until you see some of these images. Every time I look at them I want to go back to Cancun! Like, right now.

By the way, after church this past Sunday, guess who I saw? ASHLEY & KRIS!! Although this couple lives in Canada, Kris’ brother, Jesse (and his wife Brandi) live here in Granbury, and Ashley & Kris were down for a visit! What a surprise! Also, a fun fact, Ashley is expecting their first child! Yay! This is from Sunday… I took the picture because I knew Micah would never believe me!

Here is a couple pictures of our hubbies who came along with us for the sunrise session since we had to take a taxi. They were a tad bit sleepy!

Now, enjoy the beauty of a sunrise and newlyweds in love!

family birthdays | ashley

Birthdays have always been a big deal around my family. I’m so thankful for the way my mom and dad always made us feel so special each year. They always asked us what we wanted to do, have, and eat on our big day. Every. Year. They took groups of kids ice skating, putt-putting, camping, and roller skating. They took kids to movies, plays, restaurants, and parks. We had multiple sleep-overs, goody-bags, games, and cakes. They always gave us presents, birthday songs, birthday spankings (anyone else do that?), and attention. Needless to say, we were not neglected.

Now days, many people don’t want to spank their children so they aren’t “abused,” and they don’t want to give their children too much attention for fear that they will be “spoiled.” When we grew up, we were both spanked and spoiled and I could not be more thankful for it. My parents are amazing and deserve gold medals for the way they raised us! :)

My sister’s birthday was this past Friday (yes, Friday the 13th – she was born on Friday the 13th, too!) and she got lots of special attention! It was so great to get to hang out with her and celebrate her 28th birthday! I made her a cake and my mom and dad grilled all of her favorite food. I loved every moment and tried to capture it with my camera on my phone. Because sometimes a big camera just doesn’t scream “simple.” Nevertheless, I will treasure these pictures! If you haven’t noticed, my husband is a ham. :)

Kris & Ashley Cancun Wedding | Destination Wedding Photographers

Posted on May 11, 2011

Micah & I never imagined we would shoot TWO destination weddings in one week, so when Ashley contacted us to photograph their Cancun wedding that was only 2 days after another wedding we were shooting in Cancun, we were giddy with excitement! How fun is that? Celebrating two weddings in a single destination location?! Um… yes, please! Also, Ashley & Kris’s resort was only about 1.5 miles away from the resort we had booked to stay at for Arlene & Derrell’s wedding. SO perfect!

Ashley & Kris are from Canada so a tropical wedding was a dream for them! Since only a few family and friends could make such a long trip, they planned to have a reception back in Canada this May, and they asked us not to post pictures until after their reception so they would be a surprise for their guests. Needless to say, we’ve been super excited to post these for a while now!

This couple was such a delight to get to know, we only wish we could see them more often! Maybe we should have a reunion back in Mexico? :) Anyway, we were so blessed by them and treasured the time we did get to spend with them.

We also shot Ashley & Kris’s Day After session at sunrise on the morning we left Cancun and it was SO much fun. We will post those pictures next, so keep an eye out! Enjoy!
