“My Engagement Story…” | Valentine’s Day Winner

Posted on February 20, 2010

First of all, we want to say a special thank you to all the wonderful couples who took the time share their unique stories! We loved them all! It was so hard to narrow it down to one :) ! But here is the love story that made us both say, “Awww…”

My Engagement Story by Ashley Bucher
“Once upon a time…haha just kidding… So it happened after I got off work Saturday evening. I drove up to his house and saw that he had his horse saddled up. I got out and he told me to keep my jacket on because he wanted to take me for a ride to ’show me something.’ I was getting a little suspicious but didn’t want to get my hopes up just yet. Anyways, there we were, riding double out to the back pasture where there is a big lake that we love. On a tree near the dam, I saw something white hanging from a tree and thought it was trash. We rode up to it and Josh ’suggested’ I pull it down. I pulled it down and saw it was a letter he wrote to me. It was beautiful, and talked about the way he loves me and his devotion he will have for me and our family one day. For those of you who don’t know, Josh speaks Chinese he learned while he did mission work in China. At the bottom of the letter was a phrase written in Chinese, and below that, the paper was torn off. I felt bad for him that part of his letter had been ripped off but he didn’t really address that, he just gave me a riddle to where I would find the interpretation of the phrase.  It led to a solitary tree that is growing out of the side of the dam. I got off the horse, and found a box in the tree. Inside was the torn off part of the letter that read, Will you marry me? and below was the most beautiful ring! He got down off his horse and asked me, and of course I said YES!”

Isn’t that so sweet?? Congratulations on winning our contest for a FREE engagement session! You both deserve it :) !
